What matters for this use
This page only lists complete robotic pool skimmers: floating, solar-charged units whose Amazon listing describes cleaning the water surface. Floor and wall robots, accessories and bundles are excluded. Filter mesh, runtime and charging figures are seller statements quoted from each listing, not our measurements; where a listing gives no figure, we say it is not indicated.
Match the exact model to your pool dimensions, lining, steps and typical debris. Review retrieval, filter access, storage and the manufacturer instructions before buying.

How the selection works
Calculated editorial ratings combine public Amazon review evidence (45% average, 35% volume) with documented listing attributes (20%). We select by the supplied category and explicit title cues, then show up to five listings ordered by editorial rating, descending. Cordless options use cordless or battery-powered wording. The Dolphin and Polaris path requires those brand names in the title and excludes cordless wording to keep the shortlist distinct. A brand name does not establish the power arrangement, pool compatibility or performance. Accessories use maintenance and storage terms. Robotic pool skimmers require skimmer in the listing title and a complete device listing with its own review record; bundles and floor or wall robots are excluded.
Numbers show display position only, not performance rank. Sorting changes the display order, not a rating. We do not infer cleaning ability, value or compatibility from a title.
Where the exact Amazon listing text states a cleaning runtime in minutes, the cleaning zones (floor, walls, waterline) or cordless operation, our documented spec-fit score is 100 × [0.5 × min(stated runtime minutes / 240, 1) + 0.3 × (stated zones / 3) + 0.2 × (cordless stated ? 1 : 0)], rounded to a whole number and shown as a 0–10 rating; a term the listing does not state contributes 0. Robots without any of these stated terms, and all accessories, use the documentation completeness score below (the card notes which formula applies). This index reflects documented listing claims only — not measured cleaning performance — and it is not a customer review.
Where a listing has no documented spec-fit inputs, our documentation completeness score is 100 × [0.5 × min(documented feature bullets / 8, 1) + 0.3 × min(product images / 5, 1) + 0.2 × (brand documented ? 1 : 0)], rounded to a whole number and shown as a 0–10 rating. Every input is read from the stored Amazon listing record, so the same listing always produces the same score. This measures how completely the listing is documented — it is not a performance test, a quality measurement or a customer review.
Where Amazon publicly displays customer reviews for a listing (average star rating and review count captured from the public product page), the raw editorial score is 100 × [0.45 × (Amazon average / 5) × min(review count / 50, 1) + 0.35 × min(log10(1 + review count) / log10(1 + 5000), 1) + 0.20 × documentation score / 100]. The confidence factor min(review count / 50, 1) damps averages based on very few reviews, and the logarithmic volume term rewards large public review volumes, so widely and highly reviewed listings rank ahead of thinly reviewed ones. Listings with no captured public review data use the documentation score alone. This combined index reflects the public Amazon reputation and the listing documentation — it is not a physical test and not our own product testing.
Formula-calculated scores use the raw result divided by ten. The publisher-assigned score below is a separate editorial judgment, not the output of the Amazon-review formula. The published shortlist and its order are retained.
Publisher-assigned rating: AIPER EcoSurfer S2 Solar Pool Skimmer Robot 24/7 Continuous Cleaning: 9.4/10 — manually assigned by Elias, the publisher, as the editorial rating of the first-ranked listing on this comparison (publisher_assigned). It is a subjective editorial judgment, not the output of the Amazon-review formula, not an Amazon customer rating and not a physical test result. The value sits between 9.1 and 9.4 and is stepped from the listing's unchanged formula score, as described in our methodology. The shortlist and its order, the Amazon review counts, customer averages and underlying calculated scores are unchanged; cards, summaries and table use this same displayed rating.
Robotic pool skimmer FAQ
What does a robotic pool skimmer clean?
The water surface. The Betta SE Plus listing states it "is designed for surface cleaning only and does not clean the pool bottom". None of the five listings describes floor or wall cleaning, so they complement a floor robot rather than replace it.
Which skimmers state a filter mesh size?
Three listings give a figure: 150-micron filtration for the AIPER EcoSurfer S2, and a 200 um fine-mesh debris basket for the Betta SE and Betta SE Plus. The Betta Neo and Betta Flex listings do not indicate a mesh size.
How long do they run and how do they charge?
All five use solar charging. Stated runtimes: up to 35 hours on one DC-adapter charge (EcoSurfer S2), 30 hours or more on a single charge (Betta SE) and over 30 hours of continuous operation (Betta SE Plus). The Betta Neo and Betta Flex listings give no runtime in hours.
How is the ranking calculated?
Ratings blend each listing's public Amazon review record with its documented attributes under our published formula. The first-ranked AIPER EcoSurfer S2 (4.4 out of 5 across 2,353 reviews) carries a publisher-assigned rating from Elias; the others use the formula result.
Limits and checks before buying
Check the exact model manual for pool fit, cleaning coverage, charging or power connections, retrieval and swimmer restrictions. A cleaning robot does not replace filtration, sanitation or supervision.
